Gymnast Spotlight
Lirit Newman-Achee
Each month GKC will celebrate a gymnast's accomplishments on floor and share the creative process.
As you can see by watching the video, Lirit has a very fun-loving and light-hearted personality but she is very serious about her gymnastics! At only 11 years old, she is already quite accomplished. She has qualified for the TOPS training camp twice and was the 2019 Regional All Around champion, winning vault and beam. I've known her since she was a level 4 and can say she has really come a long way. When Lirit is having a bad day or hard time she is able to self reflect and acknowledges what her strengths and weakness are and is able to overcome her fears. Pretty self aware for such a young athlete. She is also a gifted artist and makes the BEST cards!
A note from Soomi…
Happy New Year! It has brought me so much joy to be able to celebrate these remarkable athletes' accomplishments and lives as well as introduce a new series called "FAB" (the Female Athlete's Body) that will tackle issues pertaining to the female gymnast. This month's topic is the menstrual cycle. Join us as Shay Grogan, and anonymous female athletes provide insight, resources and information surrounding this topic. Whether you are a coach, parent or gymnast, there is something to learn for everyone right here!
