Laura Peterson is a NYC-based dance and visual artist. She creates visually arresting installations animated by rigorous choreography. Her evening-length pieces have included large scale paintings, 14 foot tall sculptures, a living lawn, a thousand of feet of foam insulation, and enormous pieces of paper. Laura Peterson's works address the intersection of the physical body and the tactile environments she creates. She has been awarded commissions and residencies for over a decade throughout NYC, as well as nationally and internationally. Her dances have been produced by major institutions including the Kennedy Center and Museum of Modern Art, and many others. Her pieces have been performed internationally in Europe and South America. Laura teaches from the point of view that each dancer is capable of endless invention and that every class is an opportunity to create a community. Dance is about the possibilities of the body to express what is important to us; it's about risk-taking, choices, and most importantly - joy. Laura Peterson holds an MFA in Dance from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and a BFA from University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

She has continued to pursue dance during her ten years in NYC, competing with EPIC Motion, Funkanometry NY, and Mint Dance Company. She has had the pleasure of training with and performing for industry professionals including Mike Esperanza, Cat Cogliandro, and Jared Jenkins. Stephanie has choreographed floor routines for the CPNY JO and Xcel Athletes as well as for other Tri-State gymnasts through GymKimChoreo. Stephanie is excited to share her unique movement style that reflects her artistic journey as an athlete, creator, and educator, bringing her to the dance world.Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
